Since obtaining the Blue Flag in 2018, the Village of Cap-Pelé has significantly improved the facilities and services offered at Aboiteau Beach to better serve people with reduced mobility. Thanks to these improvements, Aboiteau Beach is now one of the most accessible beaches in New Brunswick.

Here are some of those improvements:
  • Construction of a mega access ramp starting on the main patio leading directly to the sand.
  • Purchase and installation of specialized "Mobimats" to allow wheelchairs to roll over the sand to the water.
  • Purchase of two “Water Wheels” chairs which are available for free rental. (More details below).
  • Construction of small ramps to facilitate access to bathrooms, showers and the restaurant.
  • Installation of automatic doors to facilitate access to bathrooms, showers and the restaurant.
  • Addition of several parking spaces reserved for people with reduced mobility near the main entrance.

Water Wheels Chair Rental

Aboiteau Beach is proud to own two specialized "Water Wheels" devices. Your admission fee covers the use of this chair, so there is no additional charge for using it.

It is not possible to reserve the chair before your visit. It is rented on a first come, first served basis for periods of one hour at a time. If no one makes a request during your rental, we will happily grant an extension to your rental without a problem.

IMPORTANT: Anyone using the chair must read and sign a “Liability Release, Waivers of Claims and Risk Acknowledgment” Form.
