Water Quality FAQ

Due to a combination of many factors, it is common to find E. coli and Enterococci bacteria in surface water and it is normal for these levels to fluctuate. Certain environmental conditions and other sources including discharged sewage, boating, storm water runoff, animal waste, and other swimmers can play a role in influencing water quality.

Because of the geographical location of Aboiteau Beach, there are a lot of currents and movements of the water, this is favourable when it comes to water quality.

How is it possible that the bacterial levels found in the water at Parlee Beach and/or Murray Beach exceed the guidelines, and this doesn’t affect bacterial levels at Aboiteau Beach provided that it is located between the two?
